In January 2005, Global Hyatt Corporation added an additional 143 U.S. properties to its growing portfolio with the acquisition of the upscale, select service AmeriSuites hotel chain. These properties will be renovated and repositioned under the new Hyatt Place select service brand.

In January 2006, Global Hyatt Corporation acquired an additional 21 Summerfield Suites branded hotels and six owned assets. They will be renamed Hyatt Summerfield Suites and will be converted in late 2006 following renovations.
